PROJECT OVERVIEW / CONTEXT:
In 2003, ZipGlobal co-founders who had a background in VoIP technology and international calling card services between Asia and USA / Canada contacted me to create their digital strategy to promote their new a VoIP / internet telephony telecommunications service provider for international consumers who desire the most cost-effective rates for international calls primarily to and from Asia. I designed their logo / identity, print and online ads (English and Chinese versions), brochures, product quickstart / setup booklets, sales folder, tradeshow art, retail package, VoIP service activation cards, posters. I provided content creative direction and copywriting services. I devised their SEO marketing strategy including running Google ad campaigns. I wrote Google ads and helped the company's CEO and CTO recruit an experienced management team to run the company's product development and scale the company's technology. I directed a backend developer and copywriter on the website development.
Represented below are some print pieces I conceptualized and designed for ZipGlobal. I studied the look and feel of Chinese pop art and ads and noticed that they tended to be bubbly, multi-colored and warm color palettes. I chose citrusy, warm colors that are particularly attractive to Chinese markets that consider reds and warm colors as more auspicious. These designs aimed to appear youthful and dynamic to connote ZipGlobal’s cutting-edge product appeal. I wrote most of the marketing content and designed the material, as well as directed Chinese designers in creating Chinese translated versions of flash animated ads and print material.

Sample ad designs I conceptualized and created for ZipGlobal. I wrote the copy as well. The text in the ads for Chinese audiences were translated into Chinese based off of my original designs written for English-speaking markets.

Some of the original rough concepts I created inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's pop art style but in a brighter color palette to convey electrifying dynamic energy and to potentially appeal to younger Asian markets. I identified three demographics that might find ZipGlobal particularly appealing — families seeking an easy and inexpensive way to connect regularly via an intuitive phone setup system with each other USA-Canada-Asia; students and businesses who preferred a personalized zip phone number.
