PROJECT: Ad Concepts for Safety First
ROLE:
Principal Designer at siming cybercreative:
Portrait Artist / Illustrator
PROJECT OVERVIEW / CONTEXT:
Per the request of the communications design agency EPS Communications who requested a series of ad concepts that focused on hands and faces, I created these preliminary sketches and ad concepts on hands and faces for a potential client project with SafetyFirst.
Design Concept 1:  "Drawing Reality"
Featured below are just some of the many options I proposed to SafetyFirst as potential creative directions. My ad concept here represents my creative concept “Drawing Reality” that we draw our own reality. This photo collage featuring my illustration of a child waving in a child-like linear drawing style shows the potential of combining line-art with photography. This image concept suggests that a child has drawn herself sitting inside a car as I was when this photo was taken of me at age five. Children often draw on glass windows and this image captures the imaginative spontaneity of children.
Design Concept 2:  "Wings of Imagination"
My illustration below represents my concept “Wings of Imagination” that alludes to the idea that freedom lies in our imagination. This concept is portrayed via the analogy of human hands transformed into flying birds. The silhouettes of birds created by hands are mirrored with silhouettes of birds in the sky. This illustration can perhaps be described as being represented in the style of a watercolor and acrylic painting with freeform brush strokes to suggest motion and dynamic energy.
Design Concept 3:  "Defining Hands"
This illustration below depicts my creative concept “Defining Hands” which alludes to the point that when we think of hands, we are really visualizing the concept and definition of hands and its potential for action. Hands represent action versus head suggests thinking and heart implies emotion. In fact, the sheer volume of definitions for hands and related terms suggest the breadth of its significance in the context of our social interactions. In this image, I created illustrations of hands out of text in a collage-like fashion implying the interaction and our understanding of the concept of hands embracing or reaching out to one another.
Design Concept 4:  "Life Map"
My concept "Life Map" represented in the image below alludes to how hands are a map of the future and a record of our history. The way we have closed and opened our hands over the years and the way we have chosen to use them have etched the lines in our hands. These road maps suggest the options availabe to us, the paths we can choose or that are not available to us. I chose signs that I thought might have symbolic significance to one's life. This illustration is more graphics arts-like.
